A Brief History of Economic Recession in the USA

With today's economic turmoil many people are probably wondering when this recession is going end, what caused it to happen and is it going to reoccur. In this article I will give a brief history of recession in the U.S.A. what caused it to happen and some of the after effects.  I never would have thought in my wildest dreams that there has been almost one recession every decade since the late 1700's, having said that lets get started with the panic of 1797.

1797-1800

o    Caused by deflating effects of the Bank Of England

o    Considered first U.S. recession

o    Disrupted commercial real estate markets

1837-1843

o    Attributed to failing banks

o    Banks stopped paying in Gold and Silver

o    People had no confidence in paper currency

1893-1896

o    Brought on by the failure of " The Reading Railroad Company"

o    Once again European investors with draw and leave U.S financial systems in a mess

o    Stock markets and banks collapse

1918-1921 (Also Known as the Post War Recession)

o    Hyperinflation in Europe had spread to the U.S causing a recession

o    Lost production that was halted due to the end of the war

o    There was a huge influx of labour as Troops returned home, the skyrocketing unemployment

1929-1938 (The Great Depression)

or The Case of the "Great Depression" is a matter of great debate among economists

OR Here are a couple of a depreciation in asset prices and commodity prices, dramatic drops in demand and credit, and disruption of trade

or 30 million Americans with no income what so ever, WW II, similar effects

1973-1975 (oil crisis of the1970's)

o    Oil prices were quadrupled by OPEC along with government spending on the Vietnam War

o    OPEC stopped exporting oil to the U.S. and other western nations to punish them for supporting Israel

o    Gas went from 25 cents to over a dollar in just a few  short months

1987-1989 (Black Monday)

o    Stock markets around the world crash

o    Dow Jones looses 22.61% in one day

o    Debate of the fallout continues many years later with no definite resolve

March2001 - Nov2001

o    Terrorist attacks on the "World Trade Centre"

o    Collapse of the dot.com bubble

o    This is still affecting the U.S today

2007 - Present Day

o    Caused by reckless and unsustainable lending practices

o    First time since the 1930's that any major The banks fail

o Some people say that this is the worst recession since World War II

Although the causes of the recession, very powerful, as you can see there are new economic phenomena, happen again and again throughout history. Depending on what the cause was at that time could know anywhere from a few months to several years, only that it happened, happens and will happen again in the future.

Credit Crunch USA

An emerging concern in the scenario of the U.S. economy today is the problem of the credit crisis. Credit crunch is a term used to refer to the time when credit became difficult to obtain. What this means in essence that if the majority of the loan applications were approved only half or fewer credit applications will be approved during this period. Currently, the U.S. economy, the markets are in a period of tight credit. This canbecause of inflation and recession and global markets.

In such a state of the credit crisis, the status of the borrower as bad as the banks are reluctant to lend for fear of failure or default. This distrust of bankers and lending institutions leads to increased interest rates so that the acquisition of loans more expensive and therefore more complicated. The credit crisis in the United States has the greatest impact on the housing sector, where loans are generallyapplied for a huge sum caused by the high rates of the real estate market. First time buyers and applicants for jumbo loans find it extremely difficult to provide a stable credit history which is required for the high interest rates.

Moreover during such a period of credit crunch, banks stress on a down payment prior to the issue of loans and this makes it even more difficult for applying loans. While hot shot real estate markets of New York and San Francisco are the most affected by this credit crunch with mortgage loans being hard to acquire, places like Sioux Falls are virtually unperturbed by this phase because of the slow growth in the real estate market. This goes on to show that the location of the properties also play an important role in the acquisition of loans.

As a result of such a crunch period, consumers are relying more on their credit cards to help them acquire these loans. This in turn forces the credit card companies to keep constant vigil on the credit card's activities. With such a situation, the credit limits of the credit card holders tend to go down causing their credit balance to dwindle drastically. Collection agencies are profited by such scenarios and their way of dealing with it is shocking beyond belief. To avoid all this, the credit crunch must be handled effectively by understanding the nuances of the economy and adjusting accordingly.

USA Dropshippers - How To Select The Best Dropshippers In The United States

Whether you are selling items on eBay or you have an online store, you will need products to sell. Using a drop shipper is an excellent choice for beginners as well as seasoned professionals. If you are concerned about the reliability of foreign dropshippers then you might want to focus on USA dropshippers and wholesale companies. This article will help you find the best dropshippers in the USA.

You can search the internet for dropshipping companies in the United States but it will be difficult to weed through all of the search results. You might be better off searching for dropshipping forums or drop shipping lists. I found most of the companies I deal with on a day to day basis from visiting eBay selling forums and online communities. These communities will usually help you understand which companies are reputable and which are not.

When searching for a drop shipper you will want to make sure that the company you select has a live customer support team. There is nothing more frustrating than sending emails back and forth trying to get answers to your problems. You need a company who is able to respond to questions, fast.

Make sure your drop shipper doesn't run out of products often. I have used companies that say they have product in stock but when I went to order the product they were out. This is a big problem and will cause you to lose customers and give you a poor reputation on the internet.

Select your dropshipping company wisely and make sure you check their reputation before doing business with them.

USA Labor Laws for Immigrants

Hiring non-citizens at your place of business can be tricky. Some employers look for alien or immigrant employees to hire, thinking these workers will work more cheaply than U.S. citizens. Other bosses employ migrants in positions that are dangerous, without providing adequate protection or training. There are even some companies that overwork immigrant employees, especially those that don't speak English very well, taking advantage of the people who depend on these companies to survive.

The truth is that employers must treat immigrants the same way they treat U.S. citizens. The Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act (MSPA) was enacted to protect migrant and seasonal farm workers, agricultural employees, and migrant housing suppliers. But certain types of labor contractors and employees are exempt under limited circumstances. Employees are entitled to receive the terms and conditions of their jobs written in their own language.

Employers are required to keep written payroll records for migrant workers for three years or more, with copies going to each non-native worker. For agricultural jobs, employers must certify that housing provided to seasonal workers meets federal standards. Vehicles used to transport migrant workers also must be safe for transportation use.

If you are thinking about hiring migrant workers to help at your farm or agricultural business, here are some points to consider:

1. Is the migrant a U.S. citizen? Does he or she have a green card? Is the person an illegal alien? Keep in mind that any worker without proper paperwork proving that he or she belongs in this country could be deported, if caught.

2. Are you willing to extend financial support via employment to migrant workers who are employed by your company? Without evidence of long-term or ongoing employment, some aliens may be asked to leave the country.

3. Does the migrant worker have a family? If so, can you provide adequate housing, sanitation, and educational access to family members? You also may want to consider some type of insurance or health benefits in case someone gets sick or the wife has a baby.

4. Can you help migrant employees become acclimated to your community? This might involve introducing them to other immigrants from their native land, guiding them to English classes at a local high school or cultural institute, and taking them on a tour of local facilities like banks, schools, and stores.

5. Have you done a background check on your migrant employees? You may not want to hire someone with a criminal past unless you feel the person has turned over a new leaf.

6. Don't forget to consider transportation issues. Unless your migrant workers have a driver's license and a car of their own, they may depend wholly on public transportation or you to get them to doctor appointments, shopping areas, and business needs.

Contact the federal Department of Labor to learn more about compliance regulations. In some cases, the government provides help to employers and employees. Although there may be cultural, economic, and social advantages to hiring migrant workers in your company, remember to put the employee's well being ahead of everything else when making your hiring decisions.
